After a deterioration of ties during World War 2, the Japan-Australia bilateral relationship picked up momentum soon after with the signing of the Australia Japan Commerce Agreement in 1957. This agreement was the catalyst to spark a mutually beneficial, long-standing economic partnership that has grown from the foundations of resources and agriculture, to robotics, renewable energy, and financial services.
