Encounters: India

Encounters: India

Presented by Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, the seven-day Encounters: India festival will feature more than 70 artists across 70 events of traditional music, Bollywood dance, street bazaars, fine art, dawn ragas, cinema, fashion, debates, master classes and daily performances - from early morning to midnight - from some of India’s leading musicians and artists.

Seasoned India-lovers and adventurous armchair-travellers will be able to conjure their own India, drawing on an array of experiences and events which bring to life India’s vibrant colours and exquisite imagery, its tantalizing tastes and aromas, and the sound of its music – music of all forms.

Our program offers events for all tastes, backgrounds and generations. Families and children will revel in the free community events in the Parklands. Music-lovers will relish opera, orchestras, ensembles and world-class soloists from both Western and traditional Indian cultures.

Film buffs and art aficionados will enhance their passions in cinemas and galleries. Gastronomes will haunt the Indian restaurants and cafes of South Bank and neighbouring West End.
