Open Data, Open Governance

Principal speaker

Pia Waugh

You’re invited to a discussion with Pia Waugh, Director of Gov 2.0 for the Federal Department of Finance and Deregulation, and notable community leader for the open government movement. Pia will present news from the current environment and share the successes, challenges and opportunities available with open data.

The global open data initiative is about encouraging the provision of open data, in an effort to share it and harness the infinite opportunities it creates.

Come along and hear what Australia is doing to provide open access to data. Listen to how Queensland is a part of the open data revolution and how it is allowing growth and job creation while driving innovation and providing benefits to the community.

Learn about the opportunities and challenges of leveraging the data and creating value from it from an implementation and research perspective.

Pia will discuss some case studies, such as GovHack, and the tools and mechanics to leverage value from individual and mashup data sets from government and researchers.

This event is free to attend, but registrations are essential. Doors open at 5:30pm for a 6:00pm start.
