'Alvar Aalto experienced'

The Finnish architect, Alvar Aalto, has been seen by many as the poet of international modernism.  His interest in historical and cultural continuities and his concern for colour and texture, facilitated by his use of wood, brick and copper, opened up beauties and a sense of place not normally found in mainstream twentieth century modernism.

In July this year, Tony Hall took part in a tour of Aalto’s works in Finland under the guidance of the Aalto scholar, Harry Charrington.  He will show his photographs from this trip and share the insights that he gained.
