A Rhodes Scholarship covers all University and College fees, a personal stipend and one economy class airfare to Oxford at the start of the scholarship, as well as an economy flight back to the student's home country at the conclusion of the Scholarship.
Under the terms of the Will of Cecil Rhodes, candidates will be chosen across all Rhodes constituencies for:
The RHODES TRUST offers nine Rhodes Scholarships in Australia each year, one for each state and three for Australia at Large. A Rhodes Scholarship is tenable at the University of Oxford.
After applications have been received, the Selection Committee members will review each application. The Committee will then meet to prepare a short list, normally of up to six candidates to be interviewed. Interviews will be held at Government House the following week. At the end of the interview process, the Committee will select the Queensland Rhodes Scholar and, if one or two runners-up are thought to be of sufficient merit, they will be nominated to go to Canberra to be interviewed by the Australia at Large Committee. The Canberra selections are usually held around the first week of December.
The Selection Committee is chaired by the Governor of Queensland and there are six other members, each of whom holds office for four years.
