G20 Trade Ministers Meeting

G20 Trade Ministers Meeting

Trade Ministers from each of the G20 member and guest countries will come together in Sydney on 19 July 2014 to discuss the trade actions G20 members are taking as part of their comprehensive growth strategies. Ministers will base their discussions on the draft set of trade actions that are being developed by G20 sherpas and finance deputies.

Ministers will also discuss how to forge a stronger global trading system, including support for a work program following the WTO 9th Ministerial Conference in Bali in December 2013.

The Trade Ministers meeting will be held back-to-back with the B20 Summit being held in Sydney on 17-18 July giving ministers the opportunity to hear directly from business about its recommendations to boost growth through trade. The B20 has identified four key themes to frame its discussions: advocating trade liberalisation and resisting protectionism; enabling the multilateralisation of preferential trade agreements; improving trade facilitation and lowering supply chain barriers; and increasing the emphasis on facilitating freer trade in services.

Further details on the meeting will be available on the official G20 website in the lead-up to the event, including information for domestic and international media. For more information on the trade agenda see the G20 website.
