Women in Leadership Conference

Women in Leadership Conference

The International Dialogue on Women in Leadership 2014 conference will take place on 16-17 November to coincide with the G20 in Brisbane on 15-16 November.

A partnership between the US Studies Centre and Griffith University, the Dialogue will discuss the economic and social imperative for continuing and increasing multilateral efforts to support women's empowerment and full participation. We will also explore the progress of women in leadership across business, government and the non-profit sectors, address the importance of having more women in such roles, and identify the best solutions to enable everyone - both men and women - to have the choice of becoming the leaders they aspire to be.

Both the University of Sydney and Griffith University have strong traditions of supporting issues of women's empowerment across the full range of their teaching, research and administrative activities. Recently, the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney launched the Women in Leadership Collaborative Program. A partnership between the Centre, universities, government and the business community, the aim of the program is to conduct research and education initiatives, and discuss and promote contemporary issues related to women in leadership positions in business, government and non-profit sectors in the United States, Australia and globally. Griffith University has had a history of long and sustained commitment to improving the representation of women and won an award as Australia's leading organisation for the advancement of women in 2010.
