The experienced preference method is employed to value changes in the state of water in New Zealand. Results indicate that an individual who is very satisfied with the state of water bodies are more likely to report being very satisfied with their life, ceteris paribus. This positive link is robust to the estimation technique employed and a gamut of control variables. It is hoped that these results will inform future applications and development of the experienced preference method and support public policy.
