WOW Seminar - Lost Opportunity: Climate Change and the Australian Workplace

WOW Seminar - Lost Opportunity: Climate Change and the Australian Workplace

Principal speaker

Professor Ray Markey

Seminar: This seminar presents results from a project that examined what is happening in Australian workplaces in this area.  Based on analysis of key labour market actors’ policies and interviews with them, case studies, a survey of 682 organisations and an analysis of collective agreements, it concludes that efforts in this direction are very limited.  Most employee participation is at a limited level of team briefings, rather than a more strategic or organisation-wide level through representative structures.  The Australia institutional structures also provide little support for a more substantial approach.

Speaker: Professor Ray Markey is a Professor of Employment Relations and is Director of the Centre for Workforce Futures, Macquarie University.
His areas of expertise include International comparative employment relations systems, employee voice and participation, occupational health and safety and employee well-being, work/life and work/family balance and Australian and international comparative labour history.
He has published 20 books/monographs (10 each authored and edited), 60 refereed journal articles (over half in A or A* journals) and 50 book chapters.
