Steve Armitage has been appointed as the interim Principal Commissioner for the foundation of the new Queensland Family and Child Commission, established on 1 July 2014 as part of wide-ranging child protection reforms.
Prior to this, he was appointed in January 2014 to lead the transition from the previous Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian. With more than 30 years' experience in human services, Steve brings both expertise and a life-long passion for social policy to the role. He has been at the centre of some of Queensland's biggest reforms in child protection, youth justice and education and training, including implementing recommendations from two Commissions of Inquiry.
