Innovation for a Sustainable Future - The Story of Tesla

Principal speaker

Mr James Bell

Tesla was founded in 2003 by a group of engineers in Silicon Valley, led by tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, who wanted to prove that electric cars could be better than gasoline-powered cars. The dream was to create cars with instant torque, incredible power, and zero emissions. Each new generation would be increasingly affordable, helping the company work towards its mission: to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.

Now Tesla is not just an automaker, but also a technology and design company with a focus on energy innovation. The company has expanded into domestic and commercial power storage, solar roofing, with many more innovations to come.

Come and hear from Tesla Australia's James Bell, a Griffith University alumni, returning to his alma mater to share the story of Tesla's rise and the company's vision for a sustainable energy future.

James Bell is Partnership Relationship Manager for Tesla Energy Products. James completed a Bachelor of Business (Marketing & Human Resources) at Griffith University, before completing a Master of Science (Strategic Entrepreneurship) in Sweden, and is currently responsible for managing the independent Certified Installer network across Australia. With prior experience in the construction industry, he's driven to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy across the residential and small business markets through the adoption of solar and battery storage. James is inspired by the potential for all home and business owners to be their own ‘renewable utility'. His interests include distributed energy generation and driving energy independence for all.
