Some of the speakers include:- Dr. Catheryn Khoo-Lattimore, who researches women travel and published Women and Travel and Asian Genders in Tourism; Petrina Thong, a Malaysian who hitchhiked from Sweden to Malaysia with just $200 in her pocket; Jin Jeong, a South Korean who has cycled 63,000km all around the world; Manal al-Sharif, who led a right to drive campaign in Saudi Arabia; Brendan Ó Sé, who will be presenting a talk and hands-on workshop on travel photography; amongst many more individuals who have their story to tell.


Griffith Institute for Tourism (GIFT) and the Department of Tourism, Sport and Hotel Management are partnering with Zafigo, a non-profit organisation, to deliver this event on the empowerment of travel for women. The event is also part of the annual Georgetown Festival that celebrates arts, culture, heritage and community. Further information can be found on www.zafigo.com.

There will be talks, workshops, excursions and panel sessions aimed at inspiring women to travel and empowering them with the tools and resources to do so.
