Adjunct Professor Ronald Keith

This presentation will focus on Professor Ronald Keith's 2018 Routledge, London book publication, Deng Xiaoping and China's Foreign Policy which is the sequel to the earlier Macmillan/St. Martin's publication, The Diplomacy of Zhou Enlai. Professor Keith will elaborate on why Deng can be regarded as having one of the most sophisticated and constructive foreign policies of the twentieth century and how the content of his foreign policy continues to inform the by and large peaceful basis of China's present-day foreign policy.

Professor Ronald Keith completed his doctorate under the supervision of Stuart Schram at School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Professor and Head, Political Science, University of Calgary. He retired in 2015 as Professor of China Studies, International Business and Asian Studies, Griffith University. He also published 16 books on Chinese and Asian subjects including Energy, Security and Economic Development in East Asia, the Diplomacy of Zhou Enlai, Zhou Enlaide da waijiao, China as a World Power and its Response to Globalization, China From the Inside Out: Fitting the People's Republic into the World. Published 48 articles in journals such as The China Quarterly, China Information and The Journal of Contemporary China.
