PDN Leadership Breakfast with Kevin Walters, NRL Legend

Principal speaker

Kevin Walters

It's all about how you throw for the catch, in football and in leadership. Aussie sporting legend Kevin Walters will share wisdom gained along his journey on and off the field, bringing a fresh leadership perspective with plenty of anecdotes thrown in along the way, in our final breakfast event of the year.

About the Presenter:

Kevin David Walters has enjoyed a long and decorated career in Rugby League. His story of success as an NRL player with the Broncos and coach is nothing sure of inspiring and entertaining for audiences of all ages and all walks of life.

Along with twin Kerrod and older brother Steve, Kevin Walters commenced his career in Brisbane before joining the Canberra Raiders. He moved to the Brisbane Broncos in 1990, where Wally Lewis was the Broncos' first choice for the five-eighth position. Coach Wayne Bennett moved Lewis to lock and Walters to five-eighth because of his darting runs and deft passing.

That year Kevin won the Broncos' Player of the Year and he later took over the club's captaincy. He played in six premiership-winning teams and holds the record for most finals appearances.

Kevin Walters has worked as an assistant to master coaches Wayne Bennett and Craig Bellamy, and he worked under Mal Meninga at the Maroons. He coached two Queensland Cup clubs and called the shots at French Super League club Les Catalans before moving back to the Broncos where he was appointed to an assistant coaching role. Kevin was also appointed Queensland Maroons State of Origin coach.

A passionate League man, Kevin Walters is a deep thinker and a mine of information and anecdotes about the modern game.
