Gain familiarity with tools for measuring research outputs, such as citation metrics and benchmarking. In this two-hour seminar, we demonstrate locating and using citation information to highlight aspects of your track record for grant or promotion applications.

The following tools will be covered:

Scopus and Web of Science: discover citation information about your research

InCites: find category-normalized citation metrics, allowing you to benchmark outputs against discipline norms

Audience: This workshop is for academics intending on applying for promotion or grants in 2022.

Workshop prerequisites: We will assume you have some basic knowledge of citation metrics. If you aren't sure, we recommend watching the video "Bibliometrics in under 2 minutes" by Leeds University Library - https://youtu.be/UiyKfYh5BJM

Time: 90-minute demonstration, plus 30 mins for Q&A.
