Title: Using social media and online platforms to enhance research impact

Seminar Overview -

Social media and mass content sharing platforms, like Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube can provide academics with an enormous audience to engage in a range of creative activities from education to research promotion. Disseminating work via these platforms, to both a lay and professional audience, can increase visibility and influence nationally and internationally. Because of this, recent publications call for the inclusion of social media activity in academic promotion portfolios as "digital scholarship". This seminar will introduce academics to a range of social media and mass content sharing platforms and how they can best be leveraged to promote their work.
