This workshop is the second in a two-part series about critical inquiry of method (CIM). It builds on the first workshop, which focussed on how to transparently report and justify a single choice of method, including the role of critical thinking. This second workshop will guide you to critically evaluate and compare multiple methods, where other researchers have each developed their own arguments to justify the use of method in their specific research context. We refer to quality criteria and checklists that can be used to support evaluation of published papers (or your own), and highlight their commonalities and differences across qualitative, quantitative or mixed methods. Finally, we provide some initial strategies that will assist you to reflect on your own comparison and selection of methods, to best suit your research question and context. Exercises will encourage you to put these skills into practice.
