Panel Discussion: Islam and art - the divine and the secular
Notions of both the divine and secular are found throughout the history of Islamic art, the work of master calligraphers in rendering beautified copies of the Qu'ran, and the magnificent illustrations as seen in traditional Indian and Persian miniature art. In this discussion we explore the manifestations of the divine and secular in contemporary art, and ask the question: Can the divine be found in the everyday moments, and how contemporary art can create nuanced connections to age old practices?
