Inspired by the pioneering photorealist exhibition Picturing America: Photorealism in the 1970's, we propose a contemporary Australian equivalent exhibition from Brisbane based artists painting from real life subject matter. As a group of artists interested in the everyday, we have taken disparate and individual approaches to painting, to represent the multitude of perspectives on the everyday of our current time and place. The paintings range in scale and varied subject. Some take to cropping the image, collaging it, or reproducing it loyally, but all are unified by the thoughtful representation of real life and objects.
