Research Seminar | Privatising Poverty

Principal speaker

Mr Ron Bevacqua

Seminar Overview
We live in a world in which entrepreneurs are held in high esteem, and in which entrepreneurship and innovation are considered necessary for organizational success, economic growth, and poverty reduction. It is a relatively new belief system, having emerged from specific political, social, and economic conditions in the 1970s. But do these ideas still hold true in today's development landscape?

Join us for this engaging seminar where the origins of these ideas around entrepreneurialism will be discussed. Featuring Griffith Asia Institute Adjunct Industry Fellow and renowned international development expert, Ron Bevacqua, this seminar will explore how entrepreneurialism has been applied to poverty reduction policy and programs in the Global South, and whether traditional approaches to development are still viable in the face of climate change.
