Associate Professor Sama Low-Choy
This session takes a critical look at meta-analysis: How might your meta-analysis results be challenged? This is a key question that researchers may pose to maintain their own scepticism, whilst also critically engaging with their own study or others'. Such scepticism is key to acknowledging and accepting that every empirical approach has strengths and weaknesses. This seminar outlines a few issues to keep in mind when reading or conducting meta-analysis, including limitations. A core issue to consider is which quantity is selected as the target for meta-analysis. We mention cases where a one-way analysis may not be adequate.
Level. Suitable for any level, however, beginners may struggle unless they have attended the preceding six sessions, especially the first.
