H5P is a content creation platform that allows for the creation of interactive experiences without the need of a developer which can then be embedded into platforms such as Learning@Griffith, Pebblepad or other platforms used within the university.
H5P is a collection of over 40 HTML5 tools that allows for easy-to-use, engaging and responsive interaction creation. Without the need for a development team or designers, anyone can create interactions such as:
- Accordion content
- Image Hotspots
- Flip cards
- Drag and drop interactions
- Memory games
Content presentation tools include:
- Virtual Tours
- Branching Scenarios
- Image sliders
- Interactive video overlays for YouTube embeds
You can create and share content via the H5P.org website.
Online interactives are becoming commonplace in higher education as a way of presenting Blended Active Learning experiences, and the advent of easy-to-use tools means that you don't have to be an experienced multimedia designer to create content. Instructors and support staff are now able to design and develop their own activities, and HP5 is the ideal authoring tool for this type of content.
Adding interactive components to course materials is an effective way to engage your user in a meaningful interaction. This interaction can help students to engage with the content and create deeper learning outcomes. The inclusion of this type of interactions can also contribute to students proactively seeking out and engaging with course material on a more regular basis.
H5P is currently in an extended pilot for consideration to be included in Griffith's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). If you are interested in participating in the pilot you can contact your groups Learning and Teaching Consultant - Design.
If you would like to start creating H5P content now, you can create a free user account here on the H5P.org site. There are some limitations over the H5P.com site for things such as file upload size etc. but it will give you the same experience and ability to embed into Learning@Griffith courses, Pebblepad or Microsoft Teams space.
Your Learning and Teaching Consultant can suggest ways to incorporate HP5 into your teaching practice.
