Deep learning from big data

Deep learning from big data – Solving the world’s problems through artificial intelligence technology

The world of big data starts when we talk about petabytes, 1 million gigabytes of information (equal to about 2000 years of continuous music stored as MP3s). Traditional technologies, let alone people, cannot possibly process so much information.

This presentation, the second IMPACT @ Griffith Sciences Lecture, explores the ground-breaking developments in the areas of computer vision, automated pattern recognition and artificial intelligence in the context of the big challenges facing our world in the 21st century and beyond.

Professor Michael Blumenstein, from Griffith’s School of Information and Communication Technology and the Institute for Integrated and Intelligent Systems, will explain the techniques that underpin modern artificial intelligence and its overlap into the emerging area of big data science.

      Hi Diana,
Sorry I took me a couple of days to get back to you but I needed to chase up the information. At the moment, with our current Bach IT (BIT) degree, we already have Big Data concepts taught in one of our database courses. Also, we have several courses devoted to the concepts as discussed in the last IMPACT lecture (video in previous post) relating to AI e.g. Principles of Intelligent Systems, which is part of the Computing and Intelligent Systems major in the BIT.

However, from next year, with the launch of our new BIT (on-line), there is a specific tailored course on “Big Data and Cloud” that will be rolled out as part of that new degree. http://www.griffith.edu.au/engineering-information-technology/business-information-systems-it-management

      I hope that helps.
