GriffithBUSINESS Ambassadors Day

GriffithBUSINESS Ambassadors Day

Principal speaker

Dr Mark Brimble

GriffithBUSINESS Ambassadors Program provides a unique opportunity for high school students to expand their understanding of the business world and develop real-life enterprise skills. Open to year 10 and 11 students studying a business subject, or students interested in business as a career, the program explores one relevant business topic in each seminar across three campuses. Students are not required to attend all three workshops.

Topic: Finance
Presenter: Dr Mark Brimble

Dr Mark Brimble is an Associate Professor (Finance) in the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics in the Griffith Business School. He has a Phd on capital markets and has active research interests in financial markets, sustainable finance, personal finance and finance education.

Mark has a number of years experience in teaching and learning leadership roles, with seven years as the Program Director of a Bachelor of Commerce program and now the Deputy Head of the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics (Learning and Teaching) and Head of the Finance and Financial Planning discipline.

Register now for the GriffithBUSINESS Ambassador workshop by contacting Simone Markham before 10 April 2014

Students will experience a presentation on the topic, followed by a panel question and answer session to determine ‘Are you smarter than an academic?’. Students then complete an interactive activity based on the day’s topic working with students from other schools to generate a response to the task.

As part of the day, students are also provided with information about degrees at Griffith University that align with the topic, as well as other information about tertiary study options.

The program aims to develop real life enterprise skills, business knowledge and understanding through connecting secondary schools with Griffith University. The Ambassadors Program provides a valuable educational setting, where learning is more relevant and real, and works to create partnerships between teachers, academics and students to better prepare our future workforce.
