This group of women painters ie Sallie Page Mary-Jo Cleary, Marie Adams, Julie Saltissi, Pat Malt and Diane Green have recently felt unmoored and isolated in their individual practices. Connections is the result of the group's collective drive to reach out from that isolation, to look for and create connections however tenuous they be. While each responds to the concept of connection in vastly disparate ways rhizome-like threads of commonalities were found. This show is an act of resistance to the forces that push us away from each other. Grouping the works for Connections consciously challenged individual tendencies to withdraw and isolate and is a reminder that relationships can always be found where none is thought to exist.
