Celebrate NAIDOC Week 2023

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year's theme - For Our Elders - is a homage to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and their ongoing contributions to communities across the country.

Across every generation, Elders have played, and continue to play, an important role and hold a prominent place in First Peoples communities and families. Strength is drawn from their knowledge and experience, in everything from land management, cultural knowledge to justice and human rights. The struggles of their Elders help to move First Peoples forward today.

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Peoples cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. You can support and get to know your local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities through activities and events held across the country.
